Communication remains a vital tool for one to express themselves. Zekwande Foundation aims to get as many Nonspeaking Autistics in South Africa and beyond on the S2C programme to enable them to speak and express themselves in order to reach their potential. We request your support to assist nonspeaking autistics who are still trapped in their bodies.

This programme focuses on capacitating and equipping practitioners in South Africa and beyond to work better with Nonspeaking Autistics through improved communication. The foundation aims to ensure that more practitioners are exposed to (S2C) programme through working with the International Association for Spelling Communication (I-ASC). Similarly, the programme will also focus on building a cohort of Communication and Regulation Partners (CRP) to work with and assist nonspeaking autistics on daily basis. CRPs will receive coaching from registered S2C practitioners.

This programme aims to support Zekwande Mathenjwa, working with other fellow nonspeaking autistic advocates, to reach various stakeholders in our society to explain autism from their own perspective. This programme will include visiting underprivileged communities to help them understand the body mind disconnect that nonspeakers present with, de-stigmatise autism, and enable families to provide the required daily support to their autistic family members. Members of the public, professionals, educators and caregivers will also receive training on how better to engage with and support nonspeakers. To enhance this programme, Zekwande Mathenjwa is currently developing training material along with other relevant stakeholders.
