National Disability Acceptance and Understanding Month
In South Africa National Disability Rights Awareness Month is commemorated from the 3 November to 3 December. Disability can be present from birth, or manifest over a person’s lifespan, it is the result of a condition that can be physical, neurological, behavioral, auditory, emotional, developmental, or a combination of these factors. Unemployment remains one of the most significant issues confronting the majority of people with disabilities and their families. Disability Awareness Month serves as an incentive for all to take positive steps towards creating an inclusive society and improving the quality of life for people with disabilities through purposeful action.
